Hi everyone. Burying friend today due to this disease. He was only just turned 66 and has son the same age as my oldest. Have quit succcessfully once for three yrs. Started again when my company began to close and eliminated 250 jobs (brutally) in one day and that was only the beginning. That began three years of hell. Then my job went away in Aug 2012 and I spiraled way down. Only this summer feeling alive and strong again. Smoking is contrary to rest of my life but it is a true addiction. Must do this Want to do this Have desire to be a non-smoker - picture myself healthy, pure, spiritual, and 'present' for my husban and sons and for myself. Have patches, gum, lozenges, books, and now this site. Using the computer was a big part of my previous successful quit so I am looking to this community for the support and tolerance I know I will need.

I realize a quit day of tomorrow is not recommended but I have known forever what I needed to do. So....... am going to Charlie's funeral services now and plan to 'symbolically' bury my habit with him. I don't think he would object and I hope he will be my 'guardian friend' in quitting.

Not quite sure how to use all the features here but I will be back later and will have time to learn when I'm not smoking and needing to keep busy.

Gotta get ready for funeral now. Thanks for listening.
