Goodbye Old Friend...

Hi EX family,

Its been a while since I checked in here with you and I hope you are all doing well, taking good care of yourselves, and remaining positive. Last night I had to do what I have been dreading for several months, euthanize Gemini, my beloved 15 year old english setter. You can see a picture of him with my children on my profile page if you wish. He was the best dog in the whole world and I am going to miss him so, so, so much. Words cannot even describe how much he means to me. We had so many unbelievably special times together. I always referred to him as "my first-born" because he was my baby and he was here long before my daughters came along.  He is free now to run as he once did, and knowing that makes this pain of losing him a little bit easier to bear. He is okay now and even though he is gone, I'll be carrying a piece of his spirit with me always and someday we will run together again. My quit is strong and well intact, there is no way I would smoke over this. I just wanted to let everyone know that you can learn new ways to deal with stress. The old me would've used Gem's dying as an excuse to light up a smoke,  but the new me knows that smoking wouldn't help or change anything. I guess I'm just grateful for all of the time we had together and I'm also grateful that I've found the resolve to stay strong through this loss. Thank you for reading and remember that smoking is always a choice and I hope you make the choice to remain free, no matter what life brings.

Rest in Peace Gemini, we love you♥
