Just at the moment when your mental says "I just can't do this." Remember you have to physically do several things to smoke,, walk, drive, pick up , light. You can stop yourself with :It'll only last a few seconds."
Just don't allow yourself to take physical action. Go vacuum the car,,clean out that drawer you've been saying you were. WET your hands,,keep them in a wet task,,run some soapy hot water and start cleaning out the fridge and washing the shelves and drawers. Don't dwell on that cigarette or I promise you will light one with some 'good' justification/rationalization.
You will be free!! The first 6 months I would balance my check book and think I hadn't paid something! Finally one day a friend said , "James you have quit buying cigarettes!" Wow I could of had a V8!! Moment.
Please, Please join the free, the ones with such a greater peace of mind than ever before!
