Trying to prepare myself

I have some rough days ahead. It's the waiting that's hard. Our beautiful Matilda (basset hound) just had blood for a malignancy panel sent to MSU. Either cancer that is being looked at is not good. Our next appt is Tues. This came at us out of the blue. I sure wish I was further into my quit but I'm not and it all comes down to not one, not ever. I know that a cigarette will not change her diagnosis..

We got Matilda from a shelter up north about 6 months after our Murray (basset) died from Myasthenia Gravis. When he died, I said no more, it's too painful when they leave. In a weak moment I was on pet finders. The next day we drove 3 1/2 hours each way to bring her home. Her first meal with us was a McDonald's hamburg in the back seast of the car, although she preferred hers without a bun!

Matilda made regular visits to husband at continuing care and rehab hospital and was such a part of his recovery process.

I just need to prepare myself.
