Just checking in

I haven't written in a while, so I thought I'd check in. It's been a busy week. You see, I was laid off from my job in April, and I have been busting my tail looking for a job ever since. I think I have to move my job search to Northern Virginia...which I was hoping to avoid. I hate the commute, the traffic is awful.

At this point in my life, I am up against the "age" wall. No spring chicken...companies know they don't have another 30-40 years left in me and also, with my years of experience, they don't want to pay me either.

Yes, I quit smoking in the middle of all of this. What do they say...quit smoking in times of stress because then you know that stress won't make you start again? Well, I haven't had a cigarette since the day I quit on August 1st, 2013...57 days ago.

I've been plodding through No Man's Land and dealing with lots of stress at the same time. Its been fun actually. I'm at my best when I'm stressed.

Football season is finally here, another stressful time for me. But my Ravens played a most excellent game last Sunday. But that was last Sunday...there's another game this Sunday.

I have a career fair to go to in Tyson's Corner, VA next Tuesday, wish me luck. I have to find a job soon, I'm running out of money and I don't know how long unemployment lasts. I really need to be working. I'm on my own, so its all on me.

Nicotine won't solve my problems. Luckily I know chocolate won't either. I'm trying a new experiment...smoothies for breakfast, and healthy vegetables all day long - we'll see how that does in solving some problems!

I wish you all a wonderful smoke-free weekend! NOPE!
