Its Been Awhile

Ive been unbelievably swamped at work.  There just never seems to be enough hours in the day anymore to get everything done.  I wondered how i ever managed to find the time to smoke last year.  Staying busy has been a real positive in the quest never to smoke again.  Its amazing how quickly time flys by.  I do remember how hard it seemed to get through the first week, the first month the first hundred days and then it seemed like it was second nature to be a non smoker.  While the urges come and go they arent as strong anymore.  I even missed my 300 day train ride bacause i had lost track of the days because being quit is mostly second nature.    That being said there any many people who have been quit for a long time and then one day, bacause they had let their gaurd down, the nicodemon slips into their lives again.

Below i offer the following example of how the Nicodemon tried to slip back into my life.

A couple of weeks ago i got sent to New York after Huricanne Sandy to run a recovery operation.  I packed up all my cold weather gear and headed North.  Living in the South I dont often wear my Cold Weather gear even in the winter time unless im out on a project.

The day after i arrived in NJ we got about 6 inches of snow.  I donned my jacket and set out for the day.  At some point that morning i reached into a pocket and behold out comes a pack of Marlboro lights made in the Phillipines.  It was about this time last that i was working in China and had worn that jacket last.

I wont lie, the temptation was there.  Not strong, but still there.  I did resist and threw out the pack.  That temptation did cause me to reflect back some and also furthered my Resolve to keep my Quit.

Copmpared to this time last year............

I feel Good, I look Good, I am much healthier AND    .................

I have been quit for 10 Months, 4 Weeks, 1 hour, 11 minutes and 30 seconds (333 days). I have saved $3,247.22 by not smoking 9,991 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Month, 3 Days, 16 hours and 35 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 1/1/2012 11:30 AM

Happy Holidays to you All
