I told one of the conductors that I would drive the train today, so hold onto your hats! I even told her I might have to use the title. She laughed, not sure how I should take that! I knew how to post graphics here exactly long enough to get up my clock up and avatar in place and then I promptly forgot how. So I guess I can't ever smoke or have a face lift or else I'll be a big liar. My usual style is to stumble through with blindflolds on and press buttons until something works. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to repeat it. And that is precisely what happened last night. When I attempted it this morning I lost the blog which I intend to claim was so much better than this one. That's why the train is so late, can't go without the conductor, hapless as she may be.
I am planning a lovely summer picnic and barbeque. However, I could actually make that much food quicker than get all the pictures of it on the blog. I am asking that we have a POTLUCK! Everyone bring something, ok? If you are severely computere limited like I am, tell us what you want to bring and probably someone will dash out and get it for you, yes, from a moving train, we have great talent here!
We have no anniversaries today but we certainly have plenty to celebrate! We have too many to list in one place at one time so I want to focus on one. Our diversity. I'm not talking about socio-economic, gender, ethnicicty, age, religion, language, backround etc. Yes we are a motley crew there as well but I am referring to our personalities. At times they can be taken oh-so...PERSONALLY!
To me, our diverse personalities are at the very core of this site's success. No matter how brilliant and caring one person can be he/she can not provide all the needs of someone trying to beat addiction. Eventually that one person's self will present with limitations. Not so here because, baby, we've got it all! We have the listeners, we have the talkers, we have the solemn ones, we have the jokers, we have the "see the whole pictures types" and we have the focus on the detail types, we have the methodical planners and the spontaneous ones, we have analytical ones and we have the nikes (just DO it!) we have the logic driven folks and the emotionally oriented folks, we have the softies and the toughies, we have it all! Plus, having been there and heard addiction lie after addiction lie they will recognize and alert you to the lie. We have plenty of crusty old tellers of truth-of-the-heart-no-matter people in each catagory to get us each through. We just need to trust the process and intention of the member more than the addiction. Yes, we are a one stop shop because of our diversity! Long live the differences! Not let's get the food and drink happening!
