I may not look sick, But I have chronic obstuctive pulmonary disease!! otherwors known as copd!!!Its Emphysema,chronic broncitits,along with asthma,which goes with being very short of breath.
LIVING WITH COPD resticted,means..having to avoid things like a bbq,strong odors,smoke,flowers,perfumes,colonges,materials,paints,car exhaust,lotins,powders,high temps,low temp,winds,crowds,molds,dust,dogs/cats,incense
PHYICALLY... with copd, mean, difficulty walking up stairs any inclines even on the treadmill,can no longer walk very far , if anything your limited b/c you can only walk mayb a few steps at a time,(like me ) get very tired very fast,no more rushing to do things, now its baby steps, you get there faster 🙂 unable to tolerate tight clothing,eating, you eat slow inbetween coughing ur brains out,then you are so skinny,sometimes looking malnurished,showers & getting dressed are the worst,& try not to bend down as when you get back up if your like me, your gona pass our b/c bending to pick something up just took everything youhad in you. save your energy, do it all in slowmotion.
SOCIALLY.. you dont have a social life like b4, you cant make plans, b/c you have to live in the moment, see how you wake up, there is good day & there are bad days. coughing in public,wearing your oxygen mask or cannula, having people stare like ur from outer space (lmao) stay far from people with a cold,flu like symtomsgerms, your friends visits are short sweet& smokeless .
EMOTIONALLY... You cry easy,anger easy, you have resentment when people say you look so good b/c you feel like death. complicated I say.. copd is a complicated disease.. One that you dont want.
well have a great sunday,Im giving you a heads up what you can be in store for if you continue to smoke. There is not one good thing that comes from smoking,,NOT A ONE!!! Inless you have a death wish, continue to smoke, but life is good, life is what we make of it, so make the right choice. Dont do what I did, I smoked till I couldnt brathe anymore. today tho, after 40 yrs iam proud to say iam like 580 days or more smober :)) & 18 days on the lung transplant list :)) Joanne!!!! stage 4 copd with end stages emphysema.. Im a mom of 4 great kids great husband they are my rock. age is only a number, it can get you anytime.. My local paper will do a story om me soon, for fundraising & b/c im goin to do a thing there to raise awareness also for organ donors ( they are despretly needed) smoking, copd emphysema alpha-1, enviormental. you dont just have to be a smoker, you can smoke and pass the gene to your kids// did you know that???? wellhavea gooddayeveryone & congrats to all the milestones out there from 1 day to a month to a yr or yrs , every min counts :)0 !!!
