I hope many of you saw the study that was recently published where Quitting with NRTs was compared with the Cold Turkey method. I've read several articles, but not the actual study and note that the category with counseling and either method ranked higher. That would be sites like this as well as Quit Lines. I know studies have to be set up within distinct parameters in order to be meaningful, but I would love to see how this site stacks up with other methods. I used Chantix which is not an NRT and it made me very ill. However, I was so convinced that I would not succeed cold turkey, that using the drug did help me Quit. I have no idea if it helped cuz I thought it did or if it actually helped. The amazing thing to me was that 6.2% of Quitters in 2010 were still Quit after a year. I'm very proud that I am one of that number. Where I live I was about the last surviving smoker, but I do see lots of young folks still smoking. However, the number of smokers in the total population in very small compared to what it was years ago. The gist of the article is what really works is high taxes and making it hard for folks to smoke most places.
