Well, when I started group "March Quit Dates" when there were only a few hundred people on this site.  It was brand new and wow has it grown.

I quit March 2008 and I am two weeks away from my 3rd anniversary!.  Not one touch of nicotine, not one slip.  I would NOT do that to myself. My quit is too valuable.  Absolutely the stupidest thing I ever did...  I did 30-40 times a day.  The best thing I ever did besides have my three children was to quit.

As you may have read from my blog posts, I am not one for excuses.  I smoked almost two packs of filterless cigarettes a day for 25 years.  My wife is still a heavy smoker and she smoked through my quit period.

YET....

I no longer consider myself an EX..  Smoker.  I am now a NON smoker.  I made that determination fairly recently as I added the line "Both parents will ensure that the child will not be exposed to second-hand smoke in an enclosed environment" on my DIVORCE papers and child custody plan.  Yes, the quit has been very good to me and my outlook on life is happier and full of joy.  My wife has felt failure after failure and has given up on everything at this point.  Smoking, eating, and sitting on the couch consume her days in the name of "relaxing and calming stress"  Meanwhile I quit smoking, lost 30 pounds, work out three times a week, go hiking, and am re-discovering the wold around me and the wonder that it holds.

I know...  A divorce sounds terrible...  I don't mean to be a downer.  Truly no happy marriage ends in divorce and I am excited for each day and for the days ahead.  I am so glad to be free of the chains...  of smoking.  (Of course)
