Still doing the quit.

I can't believe it's been 36 days since I last smoked.  It seems like longer.  I don't miss it at all.  Oh, yeah, there are still urges but I now can beat those urges.  I don't smoke anymore.  I have a constant reminder of why.  Medicine for asthma.  I use to carry around my pack of cigarettes, now I carry around an inhaler.  Most days are ok but I have a hard time breathing when I drink cold stuff or go out into the cold.  Now I have picked up my co-workers head cold and sore throat.  She never takes off when she is sick which isn't often but still...  I was up last night with my head all stopped up and my throat too sore to swollow.  I have to start my second job tonight.  I only hope I can feel better by then.  Being sick is something that doesn't agree with a smoker very well.  Expecially when it comes to congestion.  Since I have quit on Jan. 20th I haven't been sick but before I quit it would take weeks to get over a cold which usually ended up in broncitis.

I am so glad that I quit.  I can smell (when I'm not congested) my fabric softener on my clothes, my shampoo in my hair later in the day, my husbands cologne more often, even bad smells like onion in my frig, my dogs when they come in wet, the drain in my sink when it needs bleach.  It makes me think of all that a non smoker all these years have been able to notice and I haven't.  WOW!!!  It's like being in a closet for all these years.  So everytime you light up a cigarette just think of all your missing.  I am so grateful for this sight.  I would still be smoking if it weren't for the Ex's.   I still have lots of "firsts" to go through but I'm comforted knowing you are all here.  Thank YOU!!!!
