Identifying my triggers

Last December the new laws went into effect banning smoking in most public places. Since then I can't smoke in restaurants or at work. My wife doesn't smoke and my kids can't stand the smell. So I don't smoke at home or in the car which means if I smoke it is outside. So outdoors has become a trigger. As soon as I step out of the house, car or any other place I light up. Now a short walk from the car to a store isn't long enough to smoke a whole cig so I bought this tube thingy that you drop the cig remains in and it puts it out for later. Compared to the days when I would stand outside until I finished the thing before going inside (and yes I would freeze my but off rather than throw one away). This snuffer thing has helped me cut down from a pack a day to about 10 per day on the average. So, is this cheating? I am new at this and my quit day is in Nov. Right now I am still learning the why and whens. So identifing is first and because of this 2 puff style my log is getting quite long for one day.
