WOMEN: periods changing after quitting smoking?

Hi everyone, my name is Violet and I quit cold turkey on June 29th of this year after smoking about a pack a day on and off for 15 years. After the first week, quitting wasn't a problem for me at all and all of the cravings were gone. I simply just learned to live life again without cigarettes, just like I did before I started smoking.

Anyway, my question is about menstrual periods. After I quit smoking my normally 33 day cycle completely went bonkers and hasn't been the same since. In fact, my period didn't only change once, it continues to be at a different time each month so far. I use two period trackers on my android phone to detect when I should be expecting my next period and even after they compensated for the changes, the prediction it gives me is still off. My last period was three days early and was a heavy flow for one day. That's it, just one day. After that day, I stopped bleeding, not even spotting!

I've googled this question many times and can't find anything to answer my question which is why I posted this TMI here, hoping that either someone else here has experienced the same sort of weird menstrual changes after quitting smoking or knows what is happening. I know that quitting smoking can change and/or reset a lot of things in our bodies but I would think that after over two months of not smoking that things would be back to normal.

Any ideas? Thanks so much!

And to those of you that are new to this whole "not smoking" thing, I promise it will get easier. Just remember, mind over matter. You learned to do a lot of things early in life without smoking and will relearn to do them, it just takes time and effort. 🙂
