Breathing Fresh Air

So I was out on a walk at the park with my husband just the other day. Something we haven't done in a while due to our hectic scheduels. The trails were long and winding. Steep and rocky. I had made the silly mistake of wearing my flat sandles rather than a good pair of tennis shoes. I thought to myself, this wouldn't be a big deal and besides! Its summer time. Summer time equals sandles.

Walking around, every now and again in silence just taking in the sounds of leaves rustling like ocean waves and birds singing songs.. Feeling the breezes pass us by... I was reminded over and over how thankful I am that I kicked tobacco out of my life. Being surrounded by nothing but oxygen makers (plants) and nature.... I smiled knowing that by my decision to quit, I could enjoy walks like these more often and with those I love as well.

At some points I found myself out of breath from climbing steep hills and bearing the heat of the day. Even then, I smiled with joy knowing that, that right there caused me to be out of breath and not the tar clinging to my lungs trying to suffocate me. I was perfectly okay with being out of breath for the right reasons.

There's nothing like breathing fresh clean air over tobacco smoke. You're breathing vital nutrients. You're breathing a gift. A blessing! Quitting smoking is a great gift you can give you to your body.
