How I quit smoking

First let me say, I am so proud of all the people who have chosen to take control of their lives again and quit smoking. " I took my life back in 1996. I have an aunt that once told me a few years before I actually quit. How she did it. She told me that ciggerettes are in control when we smoke. You hear people say, I can quit anytime", but you never see them really put them down. Anyways, my Aunt told me that in order for her to quit. She had smoked all of a pack except for One ciggerette. She took her last one and placed it on the television. So she could see it everyday. She would get up in the mornings and walk over to it, And want it so bad. But instead of picking it up. She would talk to it. Saying, "You do not have control anymore, I will not smoke you". It took her a week or so, (Can't remember how long she said). But I tried it (When I was serious about quitting). And yes I did it. That last ciggerette stayed there ontop of my Television for 3 weeks. The other way to kick the habbit is to DO IT FOR YOURSELF! If you are quitting for someone else because they said for you too. Then you are not likely to stay away from them. I tried a few times before I finally did it for someone else. And I ended up sneaking around smoking. Or I would say I only wanted 1 puff. That is teasing yourself in my opion. I had to go cold turkey for me. I have Astma and I am overweight. So those Two factors made me stop and concider how it was slowly killing me. I feel so much better now that I am smokefree. I have a husband that smokes. But I have a smoke free home. There is no smoking in my house. If you can not stop smoking in your home , Then try asigning an area for smoking.
I wish you all the best in your challenge in kicking the habbit. best of luck to you all.
