For all the newbs out there, I just wanna throw it out there that this site really does work, and it does help. My journey was rough at the begining, but I'm coming up on a year sometime this summer, and man does it feel great. Just pay attention to some of the advice you're given, and believe what the "elders" have to say. I was stubborn at first (go back through my archive of blogs if you have the time) I would not smoke for a few weeks...then relapse. Then do good for... Read full postComments (8)

I work in a small room with a fellow who smokes. Yeah, it's his choice, just as it was mine when I smoked. I'm a "live and let live" kind of guy. I don't look down on those who smoke. That was me for 20 years, and it didn't make me a bad person. It's his choice...
The problem??? I have to be in the small room with him after he comes back from a smoke break. The smell is super yuck....
That's all I got.
Stay strong folks!!

What up exers? So, I got some bad news the other day. My father was flown to a hospital because he had a stomach anurysm. He bled out a lot and his blood pressure dropped really low. He actually went out for a minute there.....
So anyway I get the call and drive down to the hospital. It's a few hours drive from where I live. I was fine the whole way. Maybe here is where I should let you all know I've been quit for around 8 months now.
I get to the hospital and meet up with my... Read full post

Smoking is disgusting. Let's face it. I can't believe how I think about it now. When I first quit I used to think to myself. This is for me, I don't care if other's smoke, it's their right. Well, my mind has changed on that. When I park at a gas station, and someone is standing right ouside of doorway to the store sucking down the last few drags of their precious cancer stick before they go in....I can smell it from 30 ft. away, and I think it smells disgusting. My favorite... Read full postComments (3)

So, I saw an older lady standing outside of a store today, with an oxygen tank connected to a tube which was connected to her face. She was pulling the oxygen tubes out of her nose, taking a big drag off a cigarette, coughing her guts out, struggling to take another drag.....you get the point. Uggggg.....so glad I'm over those damn things. And if you stay quit, you will be happy too!!! For all you newbies, stick with it. The rewards definitely outweigh the struggle it takes to get... Wow, I just went outside to do a few things. You see, although I was born and raised in the Northeast (northeast Pennsylvania to be exact), that doesn't mean I like cold weather and winter at all. I despise the cold. So.....I'm really glad I don't have to go out in this crap once or twice an hour anymore for 5 - 10 minutes at a time (I never smoked in my house, my kids shouldn't have had to breathe in my dirty habit) Life is so good as a non smoker on so many different... Here's my thoughts (what worked for me) when it came to 2 drinks that people largely associate with cigarettes: coffee and alcohol.
I think coffee is better than ever now!!! I used to love coffee and cigs in the morning, thought I could never do my morning fix of caffeine without smoking. But I can!!! And it tastes delicious. When I quit smoking, I never quit the coffee, just kept chugging from my mug mug mug....it was hard at first, but I swear it tastes better now! There was no... Read full postComments (8)
