I googled the term "cold turkey" and found several definitions and theories on its origins but the truth is, nobody knows for sure where it comes from.
Wouldn't "hot turkey" be more descriptive?
Or maybe "smoked turkey'?
"Raw (nerves) turkey"?
"Turkey jerky"?
Or maybe you could use another animal and get the point across.
"I quit smoking 'shark bite' and have never touched another one."
Or an inanimate object.
"I quit smoking "train wreck" and am doing just fine."
Whatever your definition is, have a great smoke-free Spring day.

the phrase describes the skin's reaction to heroin withdrawal. As an addict stops using the drug, blood is drawn toward the internal organs, thereby leaving the skin to resemble a cold, plucked turkey.

another site dates the phrase back to 1910 and states that it originally meant "without preparation," referring to the ease of making a dish of cold turkey. In 1922, the expression acquired its darker connotation related to drug withdrawal.

To me, the Ex Site is a little like life itself.
People come and go. Some you connect with, some you don't. Some need your help, some help you. Some cheer, some preach, some lead and some sit on the sidelines and observe. I think it's all good as long as we focus on the reason all of us are here - to beat nicotine addiction. Everyone does it in there own time and in their own way. I, for instance, have stumbled many times after long quits. I find this site to be a comfort and a boost to my current NOPE philosophy, which I learned here.
All this to say: I'm okay with my quit. You're okay in whatever stage you're in with yours.
The important thing is that you're here.
Peace out, friends.

I agree with your "2 Cents." :)) I'd say you pretty much summed it all up! I have found much comfort and support from so many here. I'm not sure I could even attempt to do it on my own...sure wouldn't want to try.

I agree - if my experiences can help anyone with quitting, I'm all about that. Thanks for your insightful post.
(I do feel bad, though when people share their problems such as emotional and physical abuse. I am just not equipt to help them with those types of issues. I don't think many of us are.)
Best wishes to you, May.
