Happy July to everyone. It looks like there are so many milestones. I myself am celebrating 4 whole months. I've now made it through 1/3 of an entire year. Keep up your quits everyone. And those of you who are still new to quitting, YOU CAN DO IT!!

Hey all - just checking in. I'm still quit - 4 weeks tomorrow. Had some cravings today but sticking it out. Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Charlotte, I just noticed that you had joined our little group! Sorry, but I haven't been into my email for a couple days. Anyway, I wanted to be sure and welcome you! Let us hear from you, O.K.? Be sure and read the articles in the discussion forum above. Just click "View All". There's a lot of helpful info there. Good luck!

A great big welcome to Raymond! It's really great to see you here! Be sure and leave a comment and tell us how you're doing with your quit. Did you just get started again?

Hey, Edsel! 50 days is really something! You're almost at 2 months! That must feel really good and you must be so proud of yourself! How are the cravings by now? Better than at first, I hope. Well, you hang in there. You've got a great quit going!

Well, you've got the right buddy then, because 18 years with Crohn's disease has taught me all you need to know about the "tummy". What works best for me, and this isn't for everyone, but maybe you'll like it: I make a bowl of old fashioned oatmeal every morning, throw a handful of frozen blueberries in while it's cooking (10mins or so), and top it with fat free yogurt. Stir it all around, gobble it down and within half an hour or so, bingo, I go...and it's best if you try to eat at the same time every morning. Then your body gets into a routine. There's nothing bowels love more than routine. Try twisting exercises too, where you lay on the floor on your back, bring your knees up to your chest and then rotate them from side to side, slowly. This will help too. Hope you're feeling better!

Hey Karen- I'll take any suggestions for the tummy. I've had problems for a few years now. Even went to a gastro specialist in the winter. I take a probiotic and Vitamin D supplement, drink tons of water etc. I've done a lot of "'partying" in my day and I think my body needs to readjust possibly... Trying to watch portion size too.

Way to go, Karen! 10 days, Woo!!!Hoo!!! With drinking it's not so much the association, but the fact that it makes you let your guard down. You just don't think enough about your resolve not to smoke. It lowers your inhibitions which makes you think it's all right. I guess what I'm trying to say is when you're trying to quit cigs, the worst thing you can do is drink. After you're really set in your quit, then a few wouldn't hurt. I've seen it time and again on here and in my life where their quit just went out the window because of alcohol. Good for you wanting to get healthy! Nothing can compare to the wonderful feeling of getting and being fit!

I'm on Day Ten and although I don't associate drinking with smoking (I can drink my face off and not want a smoke), I've decided to abstain from alcohol for awhile. I'm trying to get in better shape and look younger and I think I just drink too often. Beer, red wine, not every day, but almost. I feel so much better from not smoking I want to take it to the next level.
