ok so this is my 3rd time on Chantix. I have to say the first time I used Chantix I quit smoking for 8 months..I never wanted a cigarette at all. Then I started hanging out with people who smoked all the time and I relapsed. The second time I took Chantix I really half assed it, and I stopped smoking for 2 weeks. This time I am determined to quit. I always get sick on the blue morning and night pills. I find that if I just take the morning pill and skip the night one I am fine. I don't have any weird dreams and I don't have any bad side effects this time. This really is a miracle drug for me because without it I wouldn't have been able to quit smoking. I have been smoke free since 05-01-08.

I just finished my fifth week and stopped taking it on Monday of this week. I relapsed after a couple of weeks, so I'm not sure how valid my experience is. I am celebrating my second week of not smoking in about one hour. I have heard a lot of people say you should stay on it the whole 12 weeks. It sounds lik you've worked on the triggers, though, so I'd say go for it. You might want to keep a couple in reserve when you wean yourself off of it. You'll know within a couple of days if the four weeks worked or not.

Sorry for rambling :-)

This is my second week after completing the 12th week process, and yes, I feel the 12 weeks are necessary as that is the time that studies revealed the highest sucess rate. I know it is extremely hard, I know it seems like an impossible feat, but it can be done. I would like to share with all of you, my morning prayer.

Dear Lord,
So far I've done all right.
I haven't gossipped,
haven't lost my temper,
haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent.
I'm really glad about that.

But in a few minutes, God,
I'm going to get out of bed.
And from then on,
I'm going to need a lot more help.

Good to know...I had been smoke free for over 90 days. I had a severe case of bronchi's...so it was very easy for me...none of my regular friends smoke.

A friend is visiting me and have started back up...and I doubt if that will stop while she is here. My question is when she leaves what kind of problems should I expect since it was so easy the first time to stop smoking.

I had nausea too but have done better by taking it on a full stomach and drinking plenty of water...as for the dreams, when I first started I had some unusual dreams but not now...I miss them. LOL

Good for you. You should be ok when she leaves., If front of you may be difficult especially is you have a few drinks. Stay s trong. You are doing so good don't give in. I'm on my 3rd day of chantix today. I start twice a day tomorrow. Did you quit after 7 days on chantix? I plan on eating before taking my pill too when I'm on stronger dose. Right now I have been ok.. I want ot quit before we start bowling in Sept. I want ot be strong in my qit before I walk in the bowling alley. My husband smokes so that is going to be a challenge. But we smoke outside and I hate smoking outside in the winter.

CA my very best friend still smokes, too. As a part of our friendship I've asked her to never give me a butt if I ever ask for one... just in case. Maybe you could consider the same pact with your smoking friends.

And, to insure your next quit is a complete and permanent success...from now on, make your home a smoke free zone... for your own health. It's time we start thinking that we are 'as' important as we think our friends are. =)

If you did this once, without EX, you now have a secret weapon to help you all along the way. Good luck to you!!!

I quit with CHANTIX 8 months ago and NO relapse. I quit for 12 years in 1984 but in 1996 I started working in a high stress job WITH smokers. (I should have gotten paid extra for that!! - the smokers, I mean!) When I started taking Chantix I had my doubts about whether it would work, even when I was taking it, it just didn't seem like anything was happening... my first attempt at a quit date came and went without success.

So I set another quit date a week later and by that time Chantix had worked it's miracle for me. That was last October and I am ON TOP OF THE WORLD. I

I feel like you just shared my story. I quit originally June 2007 and stayed quit for about 8 months too. I smoked for about 2 weeks and began the Chantix again, but stopped taking it. Since then I have been on and off. This last time I started smoking June 1 and began smoking heavy doing things I had not done in almost a year like smoking in the car, at work, etc. I am back to a pack a day. I went to the pharmacy and picked up the Chantix. This time I am going to take them the full three months like your supposed to. They also make me nauseated and my dreams crazy. I can already feel the lack of being able to breath. I also bought the book by Allen Carr and joined this support group. Now I need to set a quit date.
